Talking With the NEEMO Aquanauts

Airdate: Monday, August 13, 2007
Running Time: 00:28:52
Listen: Windows Media | MP3

NEEMO stands for NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations, and the Aquarius undersea station stands sixty feet under the surface of the Atlantic Ocean off Florida. That's where we talk with the four crew member of the NEEMO 13 mission, three of whom are astronauts turned aquanauts. They are testing equipment and procedures for a return to the Moon. Emily Lakdawalla's Q&A explains how a tank of oxygen might power a Titan flying machine, and Bruce Betts joins Mat Kaplan to explore a crowded night sky and announce a new space trivia contest.
